United Methodist Women

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women

whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ;

to develop a creative supportive fellowship;

and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Grace United Methodist Women
            Grace United Methodist Women reorganized in 2001. Our women’s circles meet monthly, one at night* and one during the day. Our quarterly general meetings are held at night.*  Joy Circle meets the first Thursday at 9 a.m. to create quilts, and Hope Circle will be starting the year by helping out at the Soup Kitchen the 4th Sunday afternoon of each month.
            Here at Grace, we know that we each have a mission to be what God has called us to be and let God’s love show through us. What we can accomplish increases exponentially when we work together as a group. We help support worldwide missions through our pledges. We have participated in an annual mission trip to Mexico. We raise money to provide Christmas gifts for needy families, gather new socks and underwear for local school counselors to distribute to needy children, provide prayer quilts for the sick and lap quilts for people in need, and meet monthly for a work day here at Grace. We experience the joy of working together to do God’s will.
            *A nursery is provided for evening meetings
History of United Methodist Women
            The organization that evolved into United Methodist Women began with six members nearly 140 years ago. Their purpose was mission, mission geared to especially meet the needs of women, youth and children. Still today this segment of our world population suffers most from lack of health care, they are illiterate, abused, and malnourished, they are oppressed by customs and traditions. Today United Methodist Women is a 1,000,000 member strong organization that addresses these needs through over 300 missions all around the globe.
